So yes, I'm manifesting right now that we're gonna manifest to have a great episode, and we're gonna manifest that I hope that you guys enjoyed it, and good luck.
Weekend Check In With Artists
SPEAKER_01But um, let's do some catching up before we get on to our topic today. Um man artist, how have your weekend and weekend?
SPEAKER_00Um I had a very long, fun weekend. I spent it with family and friends. Um I hate to state. So I'm kind of like getting back to it, trying to get everything back on the right track, then Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You a little exhausted, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I think I got all my sleep last night because I woke up naturally at the time I've been trying to, so I think I got my rest pretty much.
SPEAKER_01Wow, great, great, great. Um, well, I see you was moving and grooving, keeping it busy productively.
Texas Graduation Love And Support
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Um, I know we had a big weekend because we started off our weekend um in Texas. So yeah, I've been in I was in Texas for a whole week um for my nieces and my son, high school graduation. Um, when I say it was all of that, y'all, it was it was all of that. And some we were just in off by just you know them beautiful children, who they are, what they do, no problems, no issues, no concerns, no worries, effortlessly knocking out those grades, A's and B students, and just you know, don't give their parents any problems. So congrats again to the graduates. We love you, um, and congratulations. Um, we also had so many friends, family, oh my god, that came all over from different states from driving to flying, just even if they drove 30 minutes, because you guys know how Texas is like, it's fire drives everywhere, and they showed up and they showed out, and they came and they represented for our family. So when I say they showed up and showed out, I really, really mean it. They definitely did, and we had a blast, you know, enjoying all the kids. We had all our children out, you know. Um, our family and friends when they came out, they brought their families as well. So everybody occupied themselves. So that was um a very great experience. The party was very beautiful. Um, it was so beautiful, you know, with the speeches that was given out. I know I really went really deep and got really emotional. Just seeing my firstborn graduate was just, you know, a blessing, you know, for a black male to walk across stage and have no issues, no background, not, you know, just a regular, regular kid. And that was enjoyment to see, and then also see my nieces and to be able to just watch them from these little babies grow up, and they've been to school with each other, they went to school with each other from childhood all the way to high school, so they've been like the triple threats, that's what we call them for a very long time now. So I was just amazed, and I really was overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed with the love, I was overwhelmed with the support. I sat back, you know, I organized and planned it, but I had a support team that really just came through and knocked it out, and I really thanked them for that because they really made these moments very memorable and and very fun, you know. So, salute to if you listening to this and if you was at the Texas graduation, you guys the bomb.com, and we love you. So thank you so much for joining our family during these times. Um, and just really thanking, you know, my my my team, my my family, loving to death, my mom, dad, husband, brother, sister, sister-in-law, cousins, just you guys, you know, definitely knew how to come through, and you know, and they all know how I am, but you know, they managed, and I managed, so I don't know. It was cool, it was really great.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Well, you're welcome.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and yeah, artists held me down, you guys. When I say she held me down, she held me down. You know how you have these assistants and you have people that help you, and you still gotta tell them, tie your shoe, go over here, pick up that, go get that. No, no, don't do this right. You know, it's so it feels so good to have someone that can take the initiative and take charge without the directions given. So I I salute you on that. You did a very great job on um holding things down, and she was multitasking, you know. Um, she probably rubbed a couple people the wrong way because they wasn't moving and grooving, and she like, listen, y'all better get moving and grooving. But they they did a great job as well. They did a great job based upon, you know, what we was up against. So I really want to say, hey, we did that. We did that.
SPEAKER_00I d did not mean no harm.
SPEAKER_01Oh, she
Why Self-Care Matters
SPEAKER_01didn't. So today, you know, when we ended, when we talked about manifest, we we kind of mentioned a lot of things in the manifesting about the self-care. And I was like, Wow, um, as I was reviewing our manifest video, and I was like, Wow, our topic today was self-care, and it was kind of crazy because we were we kind of spoke on it a little bit um during our manifest uh podcast, and I said this topic's gonna be self-care. And one of the reasons why I went into that is because um I experienced something last week that I never experienced before, and I don't know if it's all related to just self-my self-care in general, because certain accidents, incidents happen out of your control, um, but I'm not letting that control me. So um, just to get into why you know self-care is so important, I think it's so important because it encourages you to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself so you can transmit that good feeling to others, you know. So, you know, the saying, if you're not doing good, how can you make others feel good or do good or whatever? You know, how can I give someone something that I'm not giving myself? How can I be good to others if I'm not being good to myself? So, you know, the key is that self-care. Let me be good to myself so I can be whole for you, you know. So that's really um what I'm focused on, and that's part of my journey, that's been my journey for a very long time now. I don't listen to myself, and I always, you know, want to jump back into saying, uh, I want to do I want to start being thinking about myself and self-care, and at some points I feel guilty because I'm like, is that being selfish? But you guys, we're not gonna think about it being selfish. It's not, it's not selfish when your health is at risk, or you know, when you're trying to cater and do everything, and you're not taking care of yourself, but you're taking care of everything around you. I have little babies, I cannot take care of my well, they're not babies anymore, they children, they little toddlers, but I want to be present for them. I want to be present. Y'all gonna hear them in the background too, so excuse them. But I want to be present for my children, and um in order for me to do that, I have to focus on self-care to be present, you know.
Dizziness And Vertigo Scare
SPEAKER_01So what I experienced last week, I just went into uh a daze of dizziness and unbalance. Where did it come from? I have no idea. At first I thought it was jet lag. I travel a lot, so I've never experienced any jet lag, but I said this can be that moment. And I when I walked into the house that we rented for the week, I just instantly got real dizzy, and I'm like, okay, well, this is nothing. But um, it carried, it was like an on and off three to four hour situation day to day to where it prolonged, and it was really scary to be like, oh my god, I'm dizzy. I'm seeing things circling in twos. I'm feeling like when the car is moving forward, it's going backwards. I'm feeling like uh I get so nauseous, I get so dizzy that I get nauseous and I'm throwing up. And this is all taking place during this graduation time where I am the host of the hostess of the most is the one that has to put it to into play. I have to ensure this is going down, go shopping, you know. So I'm like, no, Lord, not right now. This can't be happening to me, you know. So I go into the urgent care there, try to figure out what's going on. They tell me it was something different in my ears. I don't even know. They they never mention, I think, vertico, you know, at that point. And I'm thinking, okay, I'm good. Man, the moment of the graduation day, I kind of I was feeling good waking up, going to graduation, and then I started experiencing some dizziness again. That dizziness traveled all the way to the party where I was in a slump. I couldn't do anything. I'm like, I couldn't even talk. I didn't want to, I just wanted to lay in the dark and just stop the spinning, you know. And I'm like, I was nauseated and vomiting, and I'm like, oh my god. But I managed to go still go to that graduation, and I'm looking like, oh, it was still stuff that needed to be done at the party. I didn't even care. I and y'all, if anybody knows me and how I set up, you will be like, oh god, here she comes. Let's get in line. No, I didn't even care at this point. I'm like, y'all, do what y'all do. Please, just figure it out. Just put yourself in my shoes and figure it out. Everybody, a lot of y'all there have been in been to a lot of parties out and through and know how things should be coordinated. And I'm kind of glad I had a lot of I had a lot of things drawn out. I had a lot of plans created from the the whole floor plan of the party, from the whole plan of how the food should be set up, where the food should be placed, and things of that. So they they pulled it together, you know, and listen, we didn't we didn't start on time because we was not at the time due to you know the hiccups, but at the end of the day, dealing with you peoples that don't never come on time, it helped. So I can say thank you this one time for showing up late because we needed that extra time. I swear we did. Towards the end of the night, I started to get a little better, but I kind of did a lot of sitting when I'm giving my speeches and was like, Oh, I gotta walk. I don't think a lot of people knew what I was going through, and some did, and probably just like, dang, what's off? You know, what's wrong with her? She's off. I definitely was off, and I end up, you know, like I need a drink, you know, and I'm thinking, like, should I be drinking at a moment like this? But I'm like, what is gonna hurt? I'm already dizzy. So let me get a glass of wine, let me get a glass of wine and at least have an excuse for why I'm just slaying to the side. But um I experienced that, and that made me really just get into saying, Nikki, you know, please take some time for yourself, please take a break, you know, step away from work. And to me, my work that I do now is like self-care, it's fun, you know. I love what I do, I love working, but I think I can like really push the gas a little too, push the yeah, push the gas a little too far, and I don't let up on the breaks, and then I'm always that that person that people need, you know. I am responsible for so many individuals that people know that I am the one, so they're gonna call me to do this. Hey, I need help, I need this, you know, the phones don't stop ringing, and and it's like that. So now it's a moment of where I have to just take a chill pill and say, No, I can't. And I get family, close friends, and people tell me all day long, Nikki, you need to take a break and you know get some rest. But them same people still tell me this be the same people that be pulling me and and stressing me out sometimes. So I'm like, what really do you want?
SPEAKER_00You need an off day. You never have an off day, not even Sundays are driving off. You need to take an off day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do. It's easier said than done, but we're working on it, and that's that's a main important goal, and that's what I'm manifesting, self-care and I'm manifesting um vertigo be gone. You know what I'm saying? Vertigo be gone out of my life and out of anybody's life. If anybody experiencing this, please, um, oh my god, seek therapy. Especially if it's ongoing, you know. This has been over a week and it's still going, you know. I'm still a little dizzy now. So if I get the talking in circles, blame it on that. Don't blame it on my uh my errors in my speech or anything like that. But anyways, I'm blessed. We blessed, and I it's a blessing to have loved ones that care about you and support you. Sometimes I don't be, you know, you don't be used to the love so much, and people like, you okay? How you doing? You like, dang, these people just love you. You know, you gotta love the love. And life is about love, so I'm happy that I have friends and family that we love each other, we support each other, and we love on each other, and it's just like, man, you you live for that. You live
Cutting Off Toxic Energy
SPEAKER_01to have individuals in your life that is really not toxic that you love. I have strayed away from toxic energy, and that's another form of self-care, you guys. Ripping yourself away from toxic and bad energy because that does bleed into you, you know. So we gotta know how to set boundaries for our self-care, sell boundaries in our life to get away from things that pull us in a dark space. You know, how do you deal with dark spaces as artists?
SPEAKER_00Um, I I get rid of anything that disturbs my peace or happiness. Like, I don't care who it is, what it is, I get rid of it. Like if I if they're talking, if it if it's uh conversation with somebody, I switch it up and I gotta go. And just that simple. I don't let toxicness or bad energy flow into me because I don't like people ruining my spirit.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's definitely a part of my self-care. I make sure I'm not dealing with toxic people. When people call me, I don't look at the phone and be like, huh, what she wants because I don't got those type of people in my life.
SPEAKER_01Right, or just don't answer the phone. Yes, and they'll get the picture. You know, so you know, sometimes people will think that, you know, you're you're you you cutting them off for them, but it's really for us. For us, you know, it's really for yourself finding peace. You have to find peace, you know.
Take A 48 Before Reacting
SPEAKER_01I think I was explaining it, explaining this to someone earlier um during one of my conference calls, and um I had a team, a leadership meeting with uh my group home team and explaining to them about how they push out their emotions so quickly without thinking and the words that they're saying, you know, and I I was guilty of that back in the days when I first started, and probably five years after starting, but right now, you know, it's different. But just telling them take a 48, you know, be when you when you get so upset, you gotta take a 48 because your emotions are so open before you making decisions, before you you you saying things you re regret in the end.
SPEAKER_00Reacting on emotions, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you react, you react. When we re you know how we can react, we can go zero to ten. You want to see zero to ten, but sometimes that's not good. You got to look at a life of what you have to offer and what you have to lose, you know. So we have a lot to lose out here, you guys. So don't give it up. Take that 48 and let's work on that self-care.
Sleep, Movement, Massage, And Skincare
SPEAKER_01Um, my self-care will be um taking time more time off. Um, another part of self-care, and I didn't say I'll do this, I said I'll sleep when I die, but I'm like, how is my body rejuvenating if I'm not getting enough rest? So I will be taking time to just sleep a little longer, you know. It's hard because I am an early bird, so I said maybe I'll go to sleep a little um earlier, so I can still do my 4:35 a.m. But that don't work because I'm still turning over too early because my body is only used to like four or five hours of sleep, and I'm trying to right now, I'm trying to at least get it to at least six and a half, and I move to seven, and I'm fine with that, you know, if I don't make it to the eight, because I could take that other hour if I want to take a rest or a snap to get that eight hours in. But that's how we were fueling ourselves is by um going to sleep at night, and um that's what I'm uh looking to do as one of my self-cares, you know, traveling more, spending more time with the family, as well as you know, sitting back. Man, yeah, you know, getting uh, you know, I'm used to getting my massages once a month, but now I'm like, let me do this once a week or every other week, but um, just to get my massage and get my brain right, and also me exercising. I haven't exercised in over a week, and that's been killing me. And I'm kind of like, dang, I'm so dizzy, I don't know what to exercise or what, but I'm like, let me take a walk because one thing we don't when you got vertical, you should I don't think you should just stay still and get used to this dizziness, kind of walk it off the balance, get yourself balanced, but it just feels really weird. So getting some sun and um enjoying yourself and enjoying the time and just doing things that's just relaxing. And um, one of my other self-care things that I think I do, I love products. Uh, I got my new um fresh box of yield skincare that came in, so I can't wait to start, even though it's the same that I got in the cabinet, but it's just happy to be able to be like, Yes, I got some more yield skincare. Listen, it's working for me, and I also um start, I'm about to start utilizing um Lala product. So I'm gonna let you guys know how that works. It just came in, so I can't wait to open that up. I'm gonna send some little videos and whatnot, so we can see how that's working on them edges, you know. Because listen, I'm looking at they hair like I want that type of hair I'm on my edges. I've been wearing these units. Yes, for um hair growth. It yes, hair growth. And it's called, I don't want to pronounce it wrong. It's like Inola or something like that. Is it on our Instagram? Yes, it is. So it's in that box. I'm gonna let you take a look at it and see it. You know, I always, I just always represent. I be like, I love just seeing, you know, our people, all people that's out here, you know, doing things. So I definitely, you know, um love to support, yes, the business, as well as our our own people and our own neighborhoods as well that has businesses I represent for them, um, because that's what we should be doing. We should be putting our money back into our community. So um that's it. My got my Joel Osteen. Um, I would love to hear some of you guys uh what you can offer for some self-care tips and things of that nature, but other than that, um in changing my diet. Well, I don't have a bad diet, but I think one bad thing with my diet is that I do do that intermittent uh fasting. But during those hours that I'm um supposed to be eating, sometimes I'm not even eating, and then I don't like eating at a time um after hours, so I can go so long without eating. And if it gets too late, I'm just like I'll drink water because I don't want to eat no heavy meal and gain no weight. At my age, I'm 40. I'm not trying to gain no weight. I'm trying to stay, you know, slim, thick, thick, slim, whatever the case may be, and be on the beach.
SPEAKER_00For myself care, I want to try to start doing yoga. Um, my mom told me like yoga helps with a lot of things that people don't know that help with like starting your day. Um, like stress levels, um, anything like if you feeling like bad anxiety and things like that. So she like you don't even gotta do it for a long time, just when you first wake up in the morning.
unknownUh huh.
SPEAKER_00So I wanna try to start doing that. So that's one of my self-care things that I do wanna get into.
SPEAKER_01She was offering yoga, right? Does she still do it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she does. She's gonna um be a yoga instructor, actually. So she's gonna be like offering Man, I wish she was in Arizona.
SPEAKER_01We could have been having our yoga videos. Maybe she needs to be on Zoom and yeah, that's what she does. Yeah, and we can probably have some little yeah, I think that'd be nice, you know. Yoga always when you when you was younger and you watched the people doing you either you just laughing at the I was not knowing what that is.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, okay, she turned our butt in there, girls sit down.
SPEAKER_01But yes, that is
Yoga, Anxiety, And Healthy Relationships
SPEAKER_01helpful, you know. So for some of you that Suffer um anxiety. I know I am one of those individuals as well.
SPEAKER_00I don't like to have anxiety like when I feel like when I got something going on, I feel like a lot of pressure. Like when we was getting ready to go out of town. I'm like, okay, my anxiety is starting to get to me because I'm feeling like I gotta make sure my house in order, I gotta make sure these kids packed, I gotta a lot. And oh my god, it was a lot. But I made it.
SPEAKER_01Wow, that's great. So that's you know, one of some self-care examples, you guys, yoga, eating healthy meals, exercising, going for a walk, um, drinking a lot of water as well, meditating, yes, practice the sleep hygiene.
SPEAKER_00It's plenty meditation videos on there, and they really help.
SPEAKER_01Also maintaining great friendships and relationships is self-care. You know, healthy relationships, you know. You don't want to be in um relationship with friends or even your lover or companion where it's um unhealthy, you know, because that's not um practicing a self-care as well, you know, because that's taking down your care when you are like things are happening. We gotta protect our peace from that as well, too. So those are a little bit of tips.
SPEAKER_00You can always do stuff to make you feel good. That's part of self-care too.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Because I know I get the feeling bad when I feel like my hair ain't done, like right now. I got these nails that ain't came off over the weekend. I'm just starting to feel down. But I'm gonna make it happen tomorrow. I'm gonna go to the nail shop, that be making me feel better. When I do my hair, that's part of self-care, that help makes me feel better. A lot of different things in self-care. You know, it's a lot of different things that relates to self-care that you can do on a daily day, you know, make yourself feel good.
SPEAKER_01Yes, indeed.
Boundaries, Family Time, And Retail Therapy
SPEAKER_01So you you guys you guys have it, you know what's going on with it, and you understand that when we're not doing self-care, guess what? We're no good. We angry, we have attitudes, we're getting unhealthy, we're developing more anger, anxiety, getting fatigued, and then we're ruining relationships because we we're not taking care of ourselves, and then those that's dependent on us, we're just making life very dunctional, very dfunctional for our family. So if we want to struggle through this and take ourselves through that for that expense of not taking care of ourselves, then hey, don't do self-care. But if you want to experience a lone manifesting life of just happiness, healthiness, prosperity, yes, and wealth, let's do self-care, let's focus on self-care, and I am all for self-care. And I hope people check on me and say, Nikki, is you doing your self-care? And I hope people know, like, dang, let me not call her because she's doing self-care. But I'm gonna start having my little block days and and um putting some little blockers in. But at the end of the day, I'm not unhappy what I do day to day. I I, you know, I work remote when I'm, you know, in a different state. I'm in office when I'm there, and I I am I'm enjoying every moment, just like this podcast to me. This is my self-care because I enjoy doing what I'm doing right now, and I enjoy, you know, speaking to others, and man, it just puts you in the off, you know. I'm gonna definitely teach my kids how to do self-care. Well, not the little ones, they already know how to do self-care because if you see the way they run through this house and tear up and have a joy and fun, and they self-caring, they ain't caring, they not caring, they don't think it's selfish at all, you know. And my kids don't, kids don't, any kids, you my kids, your kids, they do not know that you're unhealthy or thing, you know, you're drained, and they not worry about that. They worried about you being present and available for them. So it's hard to say, not right now, mommy's not feeling well or mommy's tired because at the end of the day, I owe them their time. You know, their time is coming up. So I look at the top the clock and be like, I cannot be upset when I'm off work and some work is still hitting at me because it's not work time, it's my family time. So until I can get them in the bed and do what's needed, this day time. And you guys just have to, you know, people have to respect that and respect our values, and we just need to set our boundaries and focus on what's important and focus on setting a number one goal and self-care. Some other self-care that I think I do, and I probably overdo it. Shopping, you know, and I don't even go to the stores and do a lot of shopping, I just be online. I'll be like, if I'm feeling somewhere, and I just be like, hmm, there's retail therapy, self-care, y'all. Self-care, food, self-care, a great restaurant. Oh my god, I'm going to a great restaurant. I never neglect myself and eat trash.
SPEAKER_00I am gonna always eat. I don't care.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna get us some good food. If anything, we're gonna look good and eat good. Now the inside may be a little dizzy and unbalanced, but you ain't gonna know from the outside. So, but um, that is our goal. We're gonna definitely focus on our self-care and um just a couple of other things, you guys, to stay tuned for.
Book Launch And Where To Connect
SPEAKER_01June 7th, that book is coming out. Um, gonna talk a little bit more on it on our next episode. But please, you guys, go check out Amazon. I got the uh pre-sale going on for your ebooks, but the book is going on sale on June 7th.
SPEAKER_00Set your alarms.
SPEAKER_01Set your alarm. My life, his story, our journey. And it's a three-series book, it's short intros going into um every uh small little aspects of me and my husband's life. Um, so I don't want to give too many details because I want to save it, but I just want you guys to know the little, you know, it's some little tea to go in, check it out, and read that little intro. You're gonna and listen, when you grab that book, you're gonna be able to read that book and be done with it. You ain't gonna be, you know, some books you like, dang, I gotta go to work and I'm not finished with it. You're gonna be finished with it because I'm getting you thirsty for more. I want to see how you feel about that so I can do a little bit more. So that's all I can say about it. But June 7th, man, let's let's get it popping and support your girl on her journey.
